wild in full sin about 100 m from Rt. 242 on high stream bank near cultivated field.
Single stem tree, 9 x 6 m. flowers beautiful light and dark pink, 2.5-3 cm. occurring with young dark bronze leaves Petals broad oval overlapping. leaves dark green with little insect damage. Approx. 25 yrs. old.

-27c is reported to be the lowest temp. in 10 years.
